National day of Families was last week and it got me thinking about my favorite book families. I found I have a few that I tend to look to for some family values…
1. The Weasley’s from Harry Potter
2. The Descendant’s family.
3. The Lightwood’s
4. Sally&Percy Jackson
5. The Starks
The Weasley’s
The Weasley’s are from the Famous Harry Potter series. Arthur and Molly Weasley have seven children: William (bill), Charlie, Percy, Fred & George, Ron and Ginny. They welcome young orphaned Harry into the loving family and make sure that his every need is taken care of. They are loving, kind, generous and the Weasley’s always make sure that their children know that they love them more than anything and always provided them with the things that they need. The world famous line, “Not my daughter, you bitch” said from Molly to Bellatrix says it all. She will do anything to defend her family, even take on the sinister Bellatrix LeStrange.
Villian Kids or known as VK’s
The little family that the villain kids: Carlos, Evie, Jay and Mal create for themselves to make up for the lack of having families that value them. If you have ever seen the Disney’s series Descendant’s you know that this little foursome makes up their own family on the Isle and clings even more so to each other in Auradon. The movies following along with the book series written by Melissa de la Cruz. They treat each other like siblings, watching out for each other and taking care of each other. You see it in the beautiful scene in the second movie with Jay and Mal. Jay tells Mal to come to Catillion and if she still wants to go back to the isle after having a fight with Prince Ben that he will take her there himself. You can see how much Jay cares for Mal and he will do anything to protect her.
The Lightwood’s
The Lightwoods are from the new sensation by Cassandra Clare: The Mortal Instruments. The new CW show: Shadowhunters is based off Clare’s books, but have gotten worldwide love and value. The Lightwoods’ Robert and Marisol take in a young Jace and help to nurture him and love him after his father is killed. However the family I am referencing to is Alec and Isabelle themselves. The brother-sister duo. Alec and Izzy fight to protect their family, and family to them is not just blood, but anyone they decide to make family. Fight for them, even if it means defying the Clave.
Sally Jackson
Sally Jackson is the definition of a loving and understand mother. She marries a man who is terrible just to use him as cover for her son. His Godly smell is strong because he is a BIG three child, and therefore, settles for undesirable GABE. Gabe works with trash and therefore smells like it all the time. All the while acting like a PIG. He is disrespectful to Sally and defiling, but she puts up with it to keep her son safe. Gabe’s smell masks Percy’s until he is old enough to travel to camp Half-blood. She sacrifices herself in order to get Percy safely to Camp Half-Blood.
The Starks.
Catelyn Stark is TERRIBLE to her step-son Jon Snow, however to her other four children she is a WONDERFUL mother. She guides them without enforcing them. She nurtures them but does not coddle them. She does what she has to do as a mother and a woman in a time when everyone expects her to crumble and fall. She is a strong woman and takes nothing from no one, and she a rather persuasive woman. She does not bend or break, she gets things done.
